West Livingston NJ Residence

West Livingston, New Jersey, USA

In this West Livingston, NJ residence, YZDA crafted interiors that echo the home's bucolic setting, imbuing each space with a Zen-like spirit that brings peace and balance to daily living. The design embraces a serene connection to nature, with translucent shades, handwoven in Japan, filtering sunlight in a way that softly preserves views of the surrounding landscape. This delicate interplay of light and shadow creates a calming ambiance that shifts with the day, grounding the home in its tranquil environment.

The color palette, inspired by Chinese art and treasured objects collected by the client during their travels through Asia, evokes a restful and contemplative atmosphere throughout the home. Muted tones and subtle textures weave together to tell a story of cultural richness and personal history, inviting a sense of calm and reflection.

In the dining room, a Chinese Emperor and Empress preside over an antique Chinese console, dining table, and chairs, creating a focal point that radiates historical richness and cultural depth. This setting, infused with elegance and heritage, encourages moments of connection and shared experience. In keeping with the Feng Shui principle that corners must be filled to ensure good energy flow, YZDA designed two sculptural arrangements of bamboo poles housed in oversized ceramic planters resting on iron bases. These thoughtful elements blend seamlessly to create a harmonious balance between the home’s interior and its serene surroundings, crafting an environment where every detail contributes to a sense of well-being and tranquility.
