Sushi Restaurant and Sake Bar

Highland, Colorado

In Denver, CO, YZDA was tasked with designing Sushi Hai, a modern Japanese restaurant that seamlessly blends Zen aesthetics with functional dining. The challenge was to create a tranquil yet dynamic space within a long, narrow footprint, fostering connection, energy flow, and cultural authenticity. Sustainable materials—including recycled mosaic tiles, natural woods, glass, and metal—enhance the tactile experience, while warm ambient lighting and a communal dining layout encourage social interaction.

A thoughtfully curated color palette of serene matcha green, dusky purple, warm gold, dandelion yellow, and calming ivory creates a soothing ambiance, while a slate blue glass mosaic tile wall behind the sushi chef serves as a striking focal point, evoking the gentle movement of water. Every element was intentionally placed to optimize the accumulation of Chi, generating a sense of balance and tranquility throughout the space.

YZDA prioritized sustainability and longevity, making budget-conscious choices that enhance functionality without compromising aesthetics. More than just a restaurant, Sushi Hai is an immersive dining experience, where functionality meets artistry, offering a refined yet inviting retreat that seamlessly blends Japanese tradition with contemporary design.
