Designing the Future of Town Factories
Insight from YZDA Post-Design Lecture and Panel Discussion
On November 17, 2023, a panel discussion featuring Yoshida + Zanon Design Atrium (YZDA), with special speaker Satomi Yoshida, followed the completion of our corporate office renovation in Higashi-Osaka.
As a project lead designer, Satomi played a key role in the renovation, including developing biophilic spaces that emphasize vibrant expressions and colors. These environments enhanced employee well-being by positively influencing psychological health and fostering a connection to nature.
In addition, she created a series of archways connecting the old and new factory spaces with the latest corporate office, symbolizing a bridge between the factory's rich history and the aspirations of a new generation. During the discussion, YZDA highlighted its design philosophy of balancing functionality with aesthetic innovation, enhancing productivity and creativity. Collaborating with partners like Kasatani Construction was emphasized as they effectively navigated budget and timeline challenges.
Panelists explored the significant impact of well-designed office spaces on employee morale and efficiency. She also discussed sustainable practices and using local materials to maintain cultural identity and promote economic growth. Looking ahead, speakers stressed the need for adaptable designs that respond to shifting industry demands while fostering local collaboration, offering valuable insights for the future success of our factory environments.
