Satomi’s inspiration comes from the careful observation of the world around her. She is drawn to things that represent the history of countries and cultures and to fine, traditional craftsmanship that carefully blends the past, the present, and the future.
As she travels, Satomi absorbs experiences and ideas from people, fashion, music, and cultural phenomena and assimilates them into the form and aesthetics of her work. The Japanese concept of Ma – the balance between space and objects – is a significant component of her designs. She captures today’s modern lifestyle while remaining true to the time-honored principles of harmony, tranquility, and balance.
