In this Chester, NJ residence, YZDA drew inspiration from the home’s lush garden to design a sunroom and four-season patio that beautifully merges indoor and outdoor living, fulfilling the client’s desire for a relaxed, casual aesthetic infused with a touch of elegance. The guiding principle was to create a seamless transition between the interior and the natural surroundings, allowing the beauty of the outdoors to flow gently into the living space while maintaining a sense of refinement and calm.

This four-season patio is bathed in natural light, creating a bright, uplifting environment that feels open and inviting year-round. The design emphasizes eco-friendly principles, with environmentally responsible furnishings that echo the serenity of the garden. A custom area rug, hand-woven from organic materials, adds texture and warmth to the seating area, inviting a sense of comfort and connection with nature. The original teak ceiling and floor have been meticulously restored, highlighting YZDA’s dedication to quality craftsmanship and sustainable design. A breezy finishing touch from the ceiling fan enhances the atmosphere, making the space feel both tranquil and refreshing.

The serene indoor patio design draws further inspiration from the tranquility of a Zen garden and the simple elegance of a Japanese tearoom. YZDA chose a palette of pale celadon sage and golden sand that blends softly with the adjacent interior rooms and the well-maintained outdoor garden, creating a harmonious flow that feels both soothing and cohesive.
